June 24, 2012

I woke up singing, "This is the day that the Lord hath made.  I will rejoice and be glad in it!"  Are you rejoicing today?  Do you feel the spirit of our Lord this morning?  Or in the midst of life, have you lost that feeling that He is right there next to you?

Songs remind us that the Lord is worthy.  When we praise the Lord with all our hearts, we connect with Him in a way that sometimes prayer doesn't.  Prayer is petition.  Songs are worship.  In Revelation, it talks about the angels singing.  I imagine that in heaven, there is the most beautiful choir praising God in all His glory.  Can you imagine?  I know how I feel when we worship for 20 minutes.  In heaven, they are worshiping all the time because they know that they have been saved.

I love to worship, especially when I'm down.  Last week, on Father's Day, we were praising and signing and tears started flowing down my face.  I never was a cryer.  I would see people crying and wonder, why do they do that?  I held most of my feelings in.  It was easier than explaining what was wrong.  But after you have faced a few major losses, the tears come so much easier.  Really, it's a cleansing of our souls.  We cry out to the Lord and He washes us through those tears.  Sorrow is part of life but we don't have to drown in it.  We can praise Him with everything we have and bring forth His Spirit.  We can see Him through song, hear Him more clearly and love Him more dearly, when we praise His name.

David knew that.  And as I think about it, so does Steven Curtis Chapman, Amy Grant, and Jeremy Camp.  They write songs to praise God and show that He is present today.  Music is the fabric by which we are ministered too.  Even those of us that don't have a beautiful voice want to belt out the latest praise and worship song because we want to praise His name.

I may not always want to sing with joy in my heart.  That's not realistic but when I do sing; I want my Father to know I mean it.  That I am concentrating on Him and all His glory and at the end of my life, I hope I'm still praising Him for the wonderful maker He is.

Hopefully, one day I can travel the world and hear song in different languages.  I desire to hear God being cried to in many languages.  Wouldn't it be great to hear one person from every nation singing the same song.  That's what God hears.  People all over the world praising His name in many different tongues, amazing if you think about it.  Sometimes, when I sit still, I can imagine what He hears and instead of everything being about me, I think about Him and smile.

He is the only one we should worship.  He deserves our undivided attention.  Let's be His choir today.  As we go to church or are in our homes, let's take the time to sing Holy, Holy is the Lamb!  He is our lamb, come to this earth, to save many and to inspire us all to be better than we ever could be without Him!  He is worthy to be praised!

I hope you all go out today and praise the name of Jesus!  I hope you sing loud and clear and at the end of the day, you look back and smile because you know who is king of your heart.  May today the Lord of our lives bless you and keep you.  Share Him with someone today and believe that He is worthy!

Isaiah 27: 13 NKJV:

     So it shall be in that day:
     The great trumpet will be blown;
     They will come, who are about to perish in the land of Assyria,
     And they who are outcasts in the land of Egypt,
     And shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

Matthew 15:25 NKJV:

      Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, help me!"

Psalm 150:6 NKJV:

      Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord!

Psalm 99:9 NKJV:

      Exalt the Lord our God,
      And worship at His holy hill;
      For the Lord our God is holy.

My prayer today:

O, Lord, I come before you singing, "This is the day that the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.  This is the day.  This is the day that the Lord hath made!"  As with every day, I have no idea what will happen, how events will change or if things will stay calm.  What I do know this morning is that You are worthy to be praised, morning until night and that You are what gets me through.  There is no greater feeling than when we wake to song.  I think You know that and You just want us to be reminded to praise You always.  You deserve our praise, our conviction and our longing for You.  Please displace the world and in its place, bring Your glory.  We need to concentrate on the eternal daily so that when we hit a spot where life is tough, we are ready to fight with prayer and song.  Thank You for providing Your word which is full of praise.  They are songs unto You and the words speak to us about a wonderful God.  Be the light of the world today and help all of us light one lamp.  People need You, O, Lord.  Guide our feet with prayer and praise all our days.  Give us a heart for You that goes beyond understanding and help us to share Your Spirit with every woman, in every nation.  You are Lord of Lords and King of Kings.  We bow down to You in praise and worship.  For You are the slain lamb, who was and is to come!  In Jesus name, AMEN

Until tomorrow...
