I hope this Mother's Day finds you well and celebrating mothers all over the world. I know I am and that's why I want to wish anyone who takes care of a child, whether it's theirs or not a happy Mother's Day, you are molding the next generation and know that God is watching and smiling on you.
Over the last couple of days, I have really been thinking about the devastation of the Canadian fires and thinking about world events. And in my head, I'm wondering if they are all signs of what will come when the end is here on the earth. The videos of cars and homes burned has to penetrate your heart like nothing else. People have lost all worldly possessions, there will be nothing left but to rebuild. In Canada at least they have insurance but what about countries like Roatan where they don't have insurance. A fire hits and they're wiped out. Which brought me to the tsunami of several years ago, the bombings in the Middle East and the picture of the floods that took place in the last weeks in Mississippi and Houston. Images of mass destruction and I know we're human so we turn them on and then turn them off and walk away but God doesn't. He uses them to open our eyes to His greatness and out of vast destruction will come salvation.
I started this blog yesterday morning and got busy setting up my office and getting ready for my kids to come over but in the middle I went to church and guess what our pastor was talking about, something very similar but he used the examples of the presidential race, the enormous US debt and marijuana legalization. And then he talked about Paul and Nero and how Paul left us all a very important message about where we should put our trust and it wasn't in this world, it was in Jesus. So today, when I picked up my computer and my blog was unfinished, I realized I had the perfect Scripture and the perfect message.
So here it is to all the mothers who want to be, are, or have been, we are warriors. We are mothers for a reason and the children God puts in our care belong only to Him. So as I sit here, I find it important to emphasize that God is with us always. He has gone before us and our children. He promises that if we train our children up they will come back to knowing Him. So, right now, I'm praying that. I'm praying that every rebellious child would know the hand of God. I'm praying that each one of us impacted by the world scene would pray and not worry. We need to stand on the promises of God and not grow weary of praying and having faith. I know it's easier said then done but we must so that every child that comes into our path can see the power of the cross and the promises God bestowed on His people. He is the one true God and we are His chosen so it's time we acted like it.
Believing when everything is going your way is easy, believing when you can't see is very hard. If I have learned one thing this year, we have to believe even when we don't know where the staircase will lead. That's what I'm doing. I'm believing that some very confused people that I used to know come to Christ. I'm believing that Christianity will spread through the Muslim world. I'm believing that Canadians that had to watch the flames in Canada will know the beauty of our Lord and Savior and I'm standing on faith that our children that have been deceived will see the mighty hand of God.
It's time to stand firm and to remember the words of Peter. He knew he was going to die so he left words to his church about remembering. It's our time to remember because life is not easy and we must be there when people are questioning, why me? I look forward to the time when all of us are around Jesus and He speaks of the power of our prayers. Will you join me in praying for the church? I'm not talking about a particular religion that's for you to choose. I'm talking about praying for a holy revival where Jesus is seen all around the world. And where the blind will see and the deaf will hear the power of Jesus. We have the privilege of sitting in church, owning a Bible and writing a world-wide proclamation because we still live in a country that has liberty under God. We must pray for it to remain and for our Nation to stand up for the rest of the world where just confessing they love Jesus gets them killed. We don't have the luxury of closing our eyes and walking away. We are citizens of the one true God and we must stand firm and believe that He is who He said He was so many years ago.
2 Peter 1New International Version (NIV)
1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:
2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[a] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I leave you today my sisters with love for you and the knowledge that God is with us, all of us. We honored our mothers yesterday and that was wonderful but more so, we must honor a God that chose us to pray for our men, our children and their children. It's time we understood our role on earth. We must be there and prepare the next generation to stand firm on the promises of God.
