September 11, 2012

Good morning all-

Today is a day to remember the victims of 911, when a peaceful nation was attacked and many brave and wonderful people lost their lives.  Terrorist attacks are everywhere now.  Nothing will stop them because they are random acts of violence and unfortunately, the people that believe in what they're doing will continue until the end of time.

It's funny how a bad belief system causes havoc and how a good belief system brings hope.  Have you ever thought about that?  Your thoughts make up what you believe.  If what you believe is false, it can put you into sin, but if your thoughts are righteous, they can bring you hope.

My thought life is more important to me now than ever before.  I know it links my faith in Jesus when I am thinking about Him.  When I drop my guard and begin to believe I can do everything in my own strength, I typically fall into sin.  Why?  Because I believe I can do all things in my own right.  Does that align with the Bible?  Absolutely not.  We are to work hard and to do the things God has given us to do but often, I find myself asking Him for strength in the small stuff.  Why?  Because it keeps me honest, it keeps my mind on Him and it keeps me from believing I can do anything apart from Him.

We are all one step away from believing wrongly.  Did you know that.  You may disagree with me but if you think about it, terrorists believe they are doing an honorable thing.  They believe they are fighting for justice and they believe that their God wants them too.  I'm sure you can look in the paper and see the reports surrounding the church in Topeka that petitions funerals of dead men and women that served this country.  They believe they are in the right.  However confused you and I believe them to be, they will die believing they were just.  The problem is that nothing they do honors God.  God doesn't tell us to picket funerals, He tells us to love the unloveable.  He asks us to go to the ends of the earth and preach the good news.  He asks us to carry the message of hope.  Can we do that on our own?  No.  We must let God lead and then have His people follow.

I'm saddened that people all over the world live in fear of being destroyed.  I'm saddened that we have to send men and women to defend this country, where they have the potential of coming home wounded or dead.  I'm saddened that we continue to compromise our integrity at every angle.  And I am saddened that we forget what our Lord did for us on the cross.  At the end of the day, my prayer is that every tongue, in every nation, will confess that Jesus is Lord.  My prayer is that women and children will be safe and that countries will come together in peace.  I pray for a world full of hope rather than destruction and I pray that our children and their children are more faithful than we have been.

Turn your eyes toward Jesus today.  We can't change the chaos all around us.  We can't stop wars and we have no power over others thinking but we can pray.  Prayer has saved nations, brought battles to positive conclusions and saved many.  Prayer is the hope we must stand on.  No nation will be great until we turn our eyes toward Jesus.  Ask the Lord to reveal to you where your needing to change in your belief system.  We all have things we believe in and sometimes those thoughts can be wrong.  I want to always love the unloveable but I don't want to be apathetic.  I want to live for Jesus and I want Him to right my thoughts so that He will give me strength to do the tasks before me.  If you learn no other lesson in this life, learn this, our God is a mighty and powerful God, who is merciful and when called gives eternal life.  You can't work your way there, its His to give.

For all the victims of 911 and for every soldier that has served to protect nations, I pray God's hands on them.  May He find favor on those that grieve and may He bless those that are still fighting.  We thank the women and children that sacrifice their loved ones so that we can live more freely.

Hebrews 10:35-36 NKJV:

     Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.  For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise;

Philippians 2: 2 NKJV:

     fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

My prayer today:

O, Lord, like in David's time, we must fight.  Battles have been going on for centuries.  Most of them have come about because of wrongful thinking.  I pray that you would right the minds of men and that peace would be near.  I pray for the soldiers and their families that give up their time to protect.  For the women and children left behind, I pray for Your hand to be on their lives and that You would bless them.  In every nation, there is fear of war.  War breeds destruction and nothing good every comes of it.  But You have told us that You will have mercy on the nations that look toward You.  So, today, I am calling the women in every nation to pray for their people and their countries.  Give them strength as they turn their eyes fully on You and the promises of the cross.  We know that we live in the end times and that chaos will roam but when we look upon You there is peace, prosperity, and light.  Please help the people of Syria as they continue to be in the heat of battle.  Bring about change, not just in the US, but in every nation.  You are the Leader, the President, the Maker.  Although men believe they have power, they have none.  You are the powerful one.  You have stopped armies, crushed countries and rearranged the Universe.  You have placed the stars in the sky and provided the sun and moon to guide us.  You are the only thing standing in the gap that keeps us from doom.  You are our Savior and we come before You, Your humble servants.  Put on our hearts the needs of Your people.  Raise up women that will stand with You through the dark hours and that will fight the good fight.  Keep emotion far away from this battle and straighten out our thought lives.  We depend upon You for all things and know that without You we are empty.  I thank You for loving us and for being merciful to us.  We need You today and every day.  In Jesus name, AMEN

Until tomorrow...
