January 6, 2012

I have really been asking God to show me what He wants me to reveal to women.  Times are tough and they just keep getting tougher, so I took some time last night and just started reading in Luke and behold, I found the Scripture that has helped me for years.

In Luke 11:9-13 NIV:

"So I say to you:  Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Which of you fathers, if your son asks for fish, will give him a snake instead?  Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?  If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

I read this last night and really thought about what Jesus said.  When we seek him with our whole heart and ask to know Him, God will respond.  Unfortunately, when we are depressed or confused, we forget to invite Him.  His door is always open.  People don't do well with depression or long bouts of sadness.  We only have the capacity to cope with those things for a little while, but God desires us to come to Him.  His door is always open and there isn't a situation He can't handle.

I thank Him for that.  Going through tremendous loss, you realize that people can only listen to your sadness for a little while.  I have wonderful friends that have supported me through my darkest hours but I know that I can't keep running to them, especially in the middle of the night.  So, I have learned to take my thoughts and feelings to Jesus.  If I wake up in the middle of the night or in the early hours, I just pray.  He comforts me and when I ask, He provides his peace.

I would challenge you today to really read Luke 11.  The best way to walk in faith is to read and meditate on Scripture.  Scripture is our guide to God.  If you aren't amazed by Him today, pray.  If you haven't felt close to him lately, pray and if you need someone to pray for you, write a comment on this blog and I will begin to pray with you.  We are not alone on this journey.  He is ever present and wants us to reach out to Him.  There is no better way to show Him how much you love Him than praying for someone else.

I challenge all of us today to reach out to Jesus.  To ask to know Him better.  To knock on His door and ask him to reveal Himself through the Holy Spirit.  Women, we are in the middle of a huge battle and we need all the Jesus Power we can get!

My prayer today:

Oh, Lord thank you for being a God that is open to His people.  Thank you for allowing us to call out to you.  I find myself wondering how many people don't know you and don't realize all they have to do is knock.  I pray for those people now.  Please help us reach the lost and give us strength to become mighty warriors for you.  I lift up all women everywhere and ask that You would give them a purpose and a heart to seek You always and to know that they are never alone.  We love You LORD!

Until tomorrow....
