January 26, 2012

Do you realize that in every situation God knows best?  I was reminded by a doctor how circumstances in our lives make us feel like we are in a forest, thick with trees.  We look around but can't see anything except the ground in front of us and yet, we want to see through those trees. The problem is that the forest is to dense and the only things we can see are, our feet and the sky.

God can see everything.  He has the ability to look everywhere, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Nothing we face is a surprise to Him.  He knows before we know.  I am always amazed that I want to have the ability to see into the future.  Why? Could I change tomorrow if I had the opportunity?  Of course not, and yet, we want to know.

I realize that sometimes I want to be God, what a sin, right?  But we all do it.  We want to control the elements of our lives and we think we can do that through fear and worry.  Guess what?  All we cause ourselves is more anguish.  When we jump ahead, life gets more complicated not less.

I struggle with this sin.  I want to control everything around me and yet, I never have.  As a matter of fact, the times I let Christ take the wheel were the times I had the most peace.  That's why I am calling all of us to stop and quit trying to determine fate.  It's time we let God lead us, for we are like sheep, roaming aimlessly into the abyss.  We don't have the knowledge He has.  So let's give Him the Glory and walk where He wants us too.

2Samuel 22: 29 NKJV:

    For You are my lamp, O LORD;
    The LORD shall enlighten my darkness.

We have no idea what the next minute holds let alone tomorrow.   We do know one thing, Jesus Christ is our LORD and Savior.  He is one with His Father.  He died on a cross so that we may have His light  through the Holy Spirit.  Ask him to forgive you today for wanting to control tomorrow and give Him the Glory by saying, lead me where You want me to be.

It's time we depended on the lamp of the Lord, don't you think?

My prayer today:

Oh LORD, we are a sinful people.  We believe we know better than You.  However, You are in control of every factor of our lives and we must rest in You.  Forgive us for wanting to control what is Yours and lift us up with wisdom and understanding so that we can face today.  Help us to live only in today and please guide us through the forest.  We are nothing without You!  As we walk with You daily help Your sheep to know You better.  Provide peace in our time of uncertainty and give us strength to proclaim You are all we need.  Thank you for your patience and kindness and thank you for allowing us to be in Your Holy Presence.  AMEN

Until tomorrow...
